How do I get the background of my image to show up clear/transparent (when viewed on website) using Photo CS2?

you may be referring to a gif formatted image, where you would elete background in photoshop, and set transparency option for layer, and export to gif with transparency ,

I usually use Photoshop when designing a website. Use your layer tool set it to 50%. Save your image in a .gif file or .png files. I find that png files gives better clarity and quality. The only problem, not all computers are upgraded to the new IE7.1 so transparency in png is not effective. The safe best is to save it in gif.
